Constellation Energy to Acquire 30 MW Solar Installation in Sacramento 

 

May 2, 2011 - BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) today announced that it acquired a 30-megawatt DC (25-megawatt AC) solar generation project in Sacramento, Calif., from utility-grade photovoltaic power plant developer Belectric, Inc. The system will be comprised of approximately 381,000 First Solar thin film photovoltaic panels, ground-mounted at multiple sites near the city of SacramentoConstellation Energy will own and operate the system and sell the electricity generated from it to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) under ten, 20-year power purchase agreements. The project is anticipated to be commercially operational by the end of 2011.
 
The transaction was arranged by Smart Energy Capital, LLC, a finance and investment company located in White Plains, N.Y., focused exclusively on the North American solar photovoltaic industry.

First Solar to Build Solar Module Factory in Mesa, Arizona

 

New Factory Will Create 600 Jobs
Annual Production of More Than 250MW

TEMPE, Ariz. – March 17, 2011 – First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) today announced it will build its new U.S. manufacturing center in Mesa, Ariz. First Solar will invest about $300 million in the factory, which will create approximately 600 jobs and will include four manufacturing lines with a capacity to produce more than 250 megawatts (MW) of advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules per year. The new factory, in combination with First Solar’s recently expanded facility in Perrysburg, Ohio, will increase First Solar’s U.S. production capacity to more than 500MW per year.

Green Plains Renewable Energy to Acquire Ethanol Plant From Otter Tail Ag Enterprise

 

OMAHA, Neb., Feb. 17, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq:GPRE) announced today that its bid to purchase certain assets of Otter Tail Ag Enterprises, LLC was accepted by the bankruptcy court overseeing the auction process. The addition of the 55 million gallon per year dry-mill ethanol plant near Fergus Falls, MN brings Green Plains' total expected production capacity to approximately 715 million gallons annually. Green Plains will finance the $55 million acquisition with cash and financing from a group of nine lenders, led by AgStar Financial Services.
